Aizawl do Bengaluru a favour by beating New Radiant

Guwahati, INDIA - Aizawl FC beat the Maldives side, New Radiant SC by 2-1 in the final match of AFC Cup 2018 Group E on Wednesday to knock them out of this year's edition. The win also helped Bengaluru FC go through to the playoffs as the winners of Group E.

New Radiant started the match on a positive note and dominated the game as expected. Ali Ashfaq took the first shot, in a must-win fixture, in the 10th minute of the match from just outside the box.

The home side took the lead in the 61st minute when Leonce Dodoz comfortably converted a penalty when Andrei Lonescu was brought down in the box by Imran Mohamed.

Lonescu doubled the lead in the 82nd minute with a right-footed shot which went straight into the net.

Three minutes later, substitute player Ibrahim Atheeq changed the score to 2-1.
