Male', MALDIVES - Bengaluru FC took a huge step towards making the group stages of the AFC Cup after beating TC Sports Club by 3-2 in the South Zone Play-offs on Tuesday.
After a goalless first half, the match burst into life after the half-time break with Thongkhosiem's glancing header off a corner in the 51st minute giving Bengaluru the lead.
Bengaluru FC increased their lead in the 69th minute with a fine header from the Australian defender Erik Paartalu.
However the home team restored parity with double strike within a space of two minutes. Vlasichev Anatolii's shot into the top right hand corner of the net made the home side back to the game.
A minute later Ibrahim mahudhee collected a poor clearance, evaded a tackle and placed the ball into the net and leveled the game.
Thongkhosiem got the winner with an effort from 20 yards out in the 78th minute. This now means TC Sports will need to beat BFC by two goals outright next week to take their place in the AFC Cup.
