Male', MALDIVES - Former France defender Marcel Desailly will be the special guest of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League opening ceremony according to Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
President of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel announced this during the sponsorship signing ceremony between Ooredoo and FAM.
"We will be bringing former France defender Marcel Desailly as the special guest for the opening ceremony of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League along with Ooredoo." Bassam said.
Desailly won FIFA World Cup 1998, Euro Football Championship 2000 and FIFA Confederations Cup twice in 2001 and 2003. He also won UEFA Champions League, Serie A, Supercoppa Italia, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and FA Charity Shield.
Bassam also said that they signed a three year contract with Ooredoo and they will be working with Ooredoo to make this better.
"We have a vision to host this tournament in various atolls in the Maldives and we will work for that with Ooredoo." Said Bassam.
Ooredoo CEO Najib Khan said that this is the third year in a row that they are partnering with FAM and thanked them for giving them the chance to help Maldives football.
