Male', MALDIVES - Club Eagles secured the first win of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi league against Victory Sports Club. Eagles won the game by 3-1 and the win takes Eagles to fourth in the standings with five points while Victory remain in fifth place with the same number of points.
Maziya are now in sixth position with four points in what has been a difficult campaign for the Green-boys while Fehendhoo are seventh with the four points.
Ahmed Rizuvan inspired Eagles to three points with two goals. Rizuvan's first goal came in the 19th minute of the game.
Five minutes later it was Dixon Daniel Louis dribbled his way into the Eagles penalty area before firing his shot into the bottom corner of the net.
A minute after the half hour mark Ahmed Rasheed gave some hope to Victory and reduced the deficit to 2-1. His effort on goal went over Eagles goalie Sujan into the top corner of the net. Soon after Ahmed had another chance to score and make it all square but his effort from a narrow angle went over the bar.
Victory were better in the second half and pushed forward in search of a equalizer but were unable to find a way through Eagles back line and they were punished in the 74th minute by Eagles winger Rizuvan to make it 3-1 and secure Eagles their first three points of the league.
