Male', MALDIVES - President of Football Association of Maldives, Bassam Adeel Jaleel has said that the FIFA President GIanni Infantino has confirmed a visit to the Maldives soon and pay a courtesy visit to President of the Maldives.
"Just concluded a successful long meeting with President of FIFA. Discussed about out candidate Mariyam Mohamed (Mayan) and requested for his support for our campaign. FIFA President confirmed of his visit to Maldives soon and pay a courtesy visit to HEP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih." Bassam said in his tweet.
Bassam's meeting with FIFA President came just a day before AFC President Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Khalifa's invitation to the Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof in London on Saturday.
Recently Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof formed a fact finding committee to check the reason why Maldivian clubs missed the chance of getting the opportunity to play in AFC Cup 2019.
In a press release from FAM on 19th December stated that the president of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel met with the Minister Ahmed Mahloof on 13th December to discussed about the issue. And the AFC has sent a letter saying that they are closely monitoring the situation in Football Association of Maldives and has zero tolerance towards any third party interference.
"We would like to emphasize that Football Association of Maldives is an independent Non-Governmental Organization and the AFC stated that all Member Associations must fulfill their duties without any third party interference."
"Bearing in mind the above, rest assured that the Asian Football Confederation has zero tolerance towards any third party interference and the AFC is closely monitoring the situation in FAM." said n a letter addressed to the general secretary of FAM, Hussain Jawaz.
