Male', MALDIVES - Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof is scheduled to meet with AFC President Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Khalifa on Saturday in London.
Minister Mahloof tweeted from his verified twitter handle saying that he will discuss on how the AFC could increase their support for the development of football in Maldives.
"I will be paying a courtesy call on AFC President Sheikh Salman on Saturday. Will discuss on how AFC could increase their support for the development of football in the Maldives. Also I will officially invite H. E to visit Maldives on behalf of HEP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih." Said Mahloof in his tweet.
Maldivesfootball.com can confirmed that the the courtesy call is a request from Sheikh Salman and invited Minister Mahloof to visit London for the meeting.
Recently Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof formed a fact finding committee to check the reason why Maldivian clubs missed the chance of getting the opportunity to play in AFC Cup 2019.
In a press release from FAM on 19th December stated that the president of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel met with the Minister Ahmed Mahloof on 13th December to discussed about the issue. And the AFC has sent a letter saying that they are closely monitoring the situation in Football Association of Maldives and has zero tolerance towards any third party interference.
"We would like to emphasize that Football Association of Maldives is an independent Non-Governmental Organization and the AFC stated that all Member Associations must fulfill their duties without any third party interference."
"Bearing in mind the above, rest assured that the Asian Football Confederation has zero tolerance towards any third party interference and the AFC is closely monitoring the situation in FAM." said n a letter addressed to the general secretary of FAM, Hussain Jawaz.
