Maldives cruise past Bhutan

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives sealed a comfortable 7-0 win over Bhutan in their final AFC Asian Cup Qualifying match on Tuesday. Maldives secured third spot in Group D with 6 points.

Young striker Naiz Hassan claimed four goals against the visitors to leave them without a point and bottom of the standings.

Maldives were unlucky to break the deadlock after 11 minutes when Fasir missed a penalty.

Hamza Mohamed took the lead for the home side in the 35th minute. He burst deep into the Bhutan half and curled the ball home inside the box.

Naiz Hassan changed the score in the 66th minute and three minutes later, Ibrahim Waheed scored from close range while Naiz claimed his second in the 77th minute.

Naiz complete his hat-trick with another close range goal in the 80th minute and he swooped again to claim his fourth of the night two minutes later.

Hussain Sifaau changed the score to 7-0 in the additional time against Bhutan as the Maldives secured their second win of the campaign.
