Maldives suffer 1-0 loss to Al Duhail

Doha, QATAR - Maldives national team suffered a 1-0 loss to Qatar league champions Al Duhail Sports Club on Wednesday at Abdullah Bin Khalifa stadium in Al Duhail club. Maldives is gearing for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Oman on Tuesday.

In the 21st minute, Youssef El Arabi scored  the only goal in the match, and in the second half Belmadi pushed a large number of the alternatives in order to check their readiness before the kickoff of the season and El Arabi lost the opportunity to double the result after he lost a penalty.

Al Duhail were without their international players who are with Qatar national team and also was absent the Tunisian Youssef Msakni and the South Korean Nam Tae Hee for joinning their national teams .

Maldives national team coach Darres Stewart tested all the players other than Ali Ashfaq and he said that he is very happy with the performance from the defenders.

Maldives lost their opening game in AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Palestine by 3-0 and won their second match against Bhutan by 2-0. Oman thrashed Bhutan by 14-0 in their first game but lost their second game against Palestine by 2-1.
