Maldives suffer another loss against Oman

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives lost their hopes of qualifying for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup after a 3-1 defeat to Oman on Tuesday night in the group D of AFC Asian Cup Qualifier.

Oman scored two goals int he first 20 minutes of the game played at the National Football Stadium in Male', Maldives. But Ali Fasir managed to score a goal before the break. However, Oman increased the lead few minutes into the second half.

Khalid Khalifa Al Hajri broke the deadlock just after 14 minutes into the game and four minutes later Jameel Al Yehmadi increased the margin for the visitors.

Ali Fasir scored the only goal for the Maldives in the 24th minute. This was their first goal against Oman since 2004.

Ahmed Mubarak increased the margin for the visitors after 57 minutes from a close range shot.

Oman lies on second position of group D with nine points from four games while Maldives lies on third position with three points.

In the other match of this group Palestine rout Bhutan by 10-0 tonight and are on top of the table with 12 points from four games.
