Palestine stay ahead after thrashing the Maldives

West Bank, PALESTINE - Palestine keeps three points clear of Oman at the top of group D in qualifying for the final of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 after thrashing the Maldives by 8-1.

Palestine lies on top of the group with 15 points from 5 games and second placed Oman got 12 points from five games. Maldives lies on the third position with just 3 points and Bhutan didn't get a single point from the five games.

Sameh Maraaba scored four goals for the home side and Mahmoud Yousef claimed a brace as Palestine picked up a fifth win in a row to hold on to top spot having already booked their place in the Finals for the second tournament in a row.

The Maldives reduced the deficit seven minutes into the second half as Hassan Naiz tapped in from close range following a low cross from the left by Ahmed Rizuvan.

Maldives will play their last game in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers on March 27, 2018 in the Maldives.
