Muscat, OMAN - Maldives will face Oman in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier tomorrow. Maldives lost their friendly game against Qatar league champions Al Duhail by 1-0 in preparation for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Oman.

TEAM NEWS“This will be a vital game and I really honestly believe that we can get something out of the game,” said Maldives coach Darren Stewart. "I know probably it’s the toughest place to go in the group and probably for anyone, including teams like Japan or Australia, it’s tough to go there and get anything, so we are not underestimating them.”
Maldives is heading into this game after a 1-0 loss against Qatar league champions Al Duhail last week in a friendly played at Doha, Qatar. Maldives lost their opening game in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Palestine by 3-0 at the National Stadium, Male.However, they managed to bag their first win in AFC Asian Cup Qualifying against Bhutan with a 2-0 result.
Oman had recently returned from Austria where it had a successful two-week training camp and won a warm-up match against Afghanistan by 2-0 last week.
Oman is currently second in the group with three points after a 2-1 loss to Palestine in June. Verbeek's men are considered to be the favourites to top the group and will look to keep their strong unbeaten record at home intact when they take on Maldives, which also has three points.
Maldives and Oman met eight times in the past in different tournaments and friendly games so far with a 100% winning record against the Maldives Oman is the favorite team when they face tomorrow at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Maldives managed to score against Oman in just two occasions and which was back in 2004.
Their recent meeting was at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in 2007 and the match was won by Oman with a 1-0 result.
