Dhaka, BANGLADESH - Seven-time champions India have been drawn against the rivals Maldives and Sri Lanka in Group B at today's official draw for the 2018 SAFF Suzuki Cup.
In an exciting ceremony held at the Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon, the tournament host Bangladesh, will go head-to-head with Nepal, Pakistan and Bhutan.
The tournament will be played in Dhaka's Bangbandhu National Stadium from September 4 to 15 marking the third time it has been staged in Bangladesh.
India have faced the Maldives three times in the SAFF Suzuki Cup final defeating them in 1997 and 2009. In 2008, the Maldives got the better of the prestigious rivals for what remains as their sole success in the region's premier football tournament.
"Today we raised the curtain on what will be the 12th edition of our region's biggest and most important international football tournament." Said Mr Kazi Md Salahuddin, President of South Asian Football Federation.
