TC Sports Club's midfielder Shamweel Qasim (Bonda) would be the most happiest member of the club after winning Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup held in Bangladesh. TC Sports Club won the tournament after beating South Korea's Pocheon Citizen FC by 6-4 on penalties.
Bonda joined TC Sports Club last for 2016 season after a one and half year long break from the top flight football and he played a vital role in TC Sports Club's success run in 2016. They finished the league on second position and they were the runners-up of FA Cup and President's Cup. Bonda was also included in the top of the Maldives Football Awards.
Bonda, one of the most talented midfielders in the Maldives was the only Maldivian player with two gold medals in any international football tournament. He was a member and played a vital role in winning 2008 SAFF Championship and he was a key player with TC Sports Club to win their maiden international tournament.
In an exclusive interview given to Maldivesfootball.com, Bonda said that it will change soon and there are many players who are capable of doing that.
"At the moment I have that record but I am very sure that there are many players even in TC Sports Club, who are going to change that." Bonda said.
"I cannot do this alone. It was lots of hard work from the players, management and in general the team. The main reason for TC's success was the team work. We don't have famous individual players. Bonda said after his arrival to Male with the team.
Bonda started his professional career in 2001 with Island Football Club (IFC) and later on he has played for New Radiant, Club Valencia and VB Addu FC.
